A traditional income tax is based on a percentage of income. At a 0.5% rate, that equals 50 cents for every $100 received.
For example:
• $250 on $50,000 received
• $500 on $100,000 received
The second graphic also shows how deductions can affect the actual amount paid. In this example, a household earning $100,000 would have an estimated contribution of $437 per year — less than $1.20 per day.
