Mrs. White's English 11 students are reading excerpts from Walden by Henry David Thoreau. They played a game based on the book that provided them an opportunity to walk through the woods and around the pond collecting items for their survival. Students were getting a feel for the transcendental movement beliefs -- all leading to our reading of Into The Wild. Most said they'd like to bring a friend along to the woods. They didn't relate to Thoreau's need for solitude.
