Fantastic Friday - Traveling WWII Trunks

Ms. Tirado was presented with the unique opportunity to obtain two traveling trunks of artifacts from the National WWII Museum. She and Mrs. Lay decided on the trunks from the European and Pacific Theaters, and turned a conference room into a small WWII gallery experience.

Students interacted with the artifacts and answered reflective questions about each station around the room. Some of the artifacts students viewed included: sand from the Battle of Iwo Jima and Normandy (Operation Overlord), trinitite (radioactive glass from the atomic bombs), military signaling devices (mirrors, crickets), standard issue military garments and personal effects, military language manuals and guide books, and more.

Ms. Tirado and Mrs. Lay are always looking for opportunities to present students with inquiry based, hands on learning experiences, and this is one they hope to bring back in the future! #ConstantlyGrowing
