Fantastic Friday - Island Survival

Mrs. Saylor's 9th grade ELA students completed an introductory activity related to informational articles about 'Ata Island's Tongan castaways. Students COLLABORATED and used CRITICAL THINKING skills to make decisions given different island scenarios. Students also justified their answers based on possible consequences. Many of the students "survived" as they went through the different scenarios. Following this activity and the reading, students will research a location of their choice (Mt. Everest, Amazon Rainforest, Death Valley, etc.) and write a survival guide for that location to practice problem/solution writing.

Thank you to Mrs. Saylor for planning this ENGAGING activity and providing opportunities for student CHOICE and COLLABORATION. #ConstantlyGrowing
