ThinkTV Article

The Miamisburg City School District is proud to be featured in a new online social-emotional learning course for teachers through PBS LearningMedia, produced by ThinkTV. The course provides an educational video series with practical applications for educators pursuing high-quality, schoolwide social-emotional learning (SEL).

In order to cultivate a sense of belonging and to support our students’ social-emotional learning, we have implemented a variety of practices school-wide, including morning meetings, welcoming every student and movement breaks throughout the day in elementary classrooms. Creating and sustaining a supportive school environment will help us ensure our students have the tools they need to succeed beyond the classroom.

This SEL course was created through a partnership with the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL), the Montgomery County Education Service Center and the Ohio Department of Education.

We are grateful to the Montgomery County Educational Service Center for allowing us the opportunity to share our story with others. And, a special thank you to Director of Student Services Kathleen Lucas, Kinder Elementary Principal Rebecca Huber and Mark Twain Elementary Principal Kelly Lee-Marker for their participation.
