OliviaTaylor

Miamisburg High School is proud to select Olivia Taylor as the September Student of the Month. Olivia is an amazing young lady in the way that she interacts with the staff and students at MHS. Her compassion for others and their differences is something her peers should aspire to develop in themselves. Olivia has a strong belief that everyone should be included. She started Best Buddies at Miamisburg High School, because she realized that some students, with and without Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, had a hard time making friends. She wanted everyone to feel like they belonged to the Miamisburg school community. She worked closely with school administration and the special education teachers to bring Best Buddies to Miamisburg.

Best Buddies Ohio provides One-to-One Friendship and Leadership Development programs for individuals with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in Ohio. Olivia is a true leader in helping students make new connections with their peers. Olivia assists in the planning of monthly events, where students hang out with each other in and out of school. Her hard work and dedication to inclusion for all has been a big success. She is excited about what new experiences the new school year brings. Olivia’s buddy is Andy and they love going to Roosters together to get Korean BBQ wings and Dumpster fries.

Outside of being a leader among her peers and a role model for all, Olivia is a varsity cheerleader for the Vikings and also competes in competition cheer for Legacy Xtreme. In her free time, Olivia enjoys coaching cheer for the Mini Gators and tumbling for the Firebirds. Olivia has a passion for helping others and volunteers in the daycare at LifePoint Church. Olivia hopes that her experiences in coaching and teaching younger students helps her in her goal to become a 3rd grade teacher. Olivia plans to attend the University of Louisville and obtain a degree in Early Childhood Education.

It is with great pride that we celebrate Olivia Taylor as the Miamisburg High School Student of the Month for September. Her personal strengths, positive impact on the school community and dedication to inclusion and belonging for all, make her a model student and deserving of this accomplishment.
