Medlar View Elementary School Principal Susan Woods has submitted her plan to retire at the conclusion of the 2022-2023 school year. Woods has dedicated her career to providing excellence in education over the last thirty-five years and has made an indelible mark on the district with her commitment to students' success.

“We are so grateful for Mrs. Woods,” said Superintendent Dr. Laura Blessing. “Susan is a dedicated leader and mentor for her students and staff. Her presence at Medlar View will surely be missed.”

Woods worked in Clark County School District in Las Vegas, NV, and Beavercreek City School District in Beavercreek, OH, before joining the Miamisburg City School District (MCS). Hired in July of 2002, Woods worked as an Assistant Principal at Medlar View Elementary School. Following that first year, Woods moved to H.V. Bear Elementary School before returning to Medlar View as Principal in 2007. During her 21-year tenure at Miamisburg, she left an impact that extended beyond the care of her students, creating a lasting impact on the greater school community, including supporting the opening of Maddux-Lang Primary School.

“The Miamisburg City School District, the community, staff and families, will always hold a special place in my heart,” said Woods. “Time within the district will be cherished forever.”

Woods’ retirement will take effect at the end of this school year, and a search for a new principal will begin next week.

“On behalf of the Board of Education, I’d like to thank Mrs. Woods for her service to our district,” remarked Board of Education President Dale Toadvine. “We thank her for her commitment to educational excellence and unwavering passion for students, teachers and staff at Medlar View.”
