Students have so many great ideas for how to improve their schools, communities, and everyday lives. Help them share their great ideas, keep learning and thinking over the summer months, and compete for prizes in OAN’s Summer Pitch Challenge!
Students come up with a 30-90 second pitch for a business idea, record (we know they enjoy recording and sharing videos of themselves!) and enter it via an online portal by July 31st. They don’t need to start a business or create a prototype – they just need to come up with an idea for a new business, tech venture or even social enterprise like Dylan from Akron.
Rising kindergartners through 2020 high school graduates are eligible to enter. Awesome prizes will be awarded for elementary, middle and high school categories:
1st Place - $500 Amazon gift card and one-on-one consultation with an entrepreneur. First Place high-school students will receive a scholarship to Rev1 Ventures’ Customer Learning Lab, a three-day virtual boot camp for entrepreneurs.
2nd- $250 Amazon gift card
3rd - $100 Amazon gift card
Free K-12 resources to support entrepreneurship education are available from Young Entrepreneur Institute and VentureLab, including a downloadable workbook for parents and caregivers of elementary age students.

The Miamisburg City School District has an excellent staff. We want to recognize our staff's everyday accomplishments. Employees nominate a staff member who exemplifies 40 Assets by supporting the healthy development of our students or a staff member who demonstrates Best Practices. Selected staff members are recognized at a board meeting, on this website, on the District calendar or in the Viking Voice. Throughout this school year, our community will be able to read about some of the things our staff do to "Make A Difference". The latest Making A Difference honorees for school year 2020-2021 is Bus Driver Michael Popella pictured with his supervisor Mechael Reed (nominated by Scott Gilbert), Mound Elementary School Intervention Tutor (nominated by Mound Principal Rebecca Huber), and Nutrition Services Administrative Assistant Julie Smith, Supervisor Ravella Lawson, Transportation Administrative Assistants Jean Wartinger, Kathy Meyers and Transportation Supervisor Mechael Reed (nominated by Scott Gilbert).
