The Annual Financial Comprehensive Report (AFCR) is a thorough and detailed presentation of a government entity's financial condition. This report is typically issued by state and local governments, including school districts, to provide transparency and accountability in their financial management.

Monthly Report Explanations

1. Financial Dashboard Report 

  • This report looks at the most recent five year forecast and provides updates to where the actual revenues and expenditures are in comparison.  Additionally, it puts the total year in context to the same time in the previous year.  

2. Bank Reconciliation

  • This is the report that is used to balance the operating and payroll accounts to the book balances to ensure that the district has accounted for all funds coming and going out during the month it refers to.

3. Cash Summary

  • This report shows the balances of each cost center (or bucket) of money that the district utilizes.  The total fund balance should always tie to the bank reconciliation balance.

4. Disbursement Detail

  • This details all checks that were created during the month.

5. Revenue Summary by Fund/Forecast Line #

  • This shows the revenues received during the month that tie to lines of the Five Year Forecast.

6. Appropriations and Receivables by Cash Account

  • This report allows one to see the total expected revenues (the certificate) and the expected expenditures (the appropriations) to be sure that the district is compliant with the county and state auditor.

7. General Fund Budget Summary

  • This is generalization of the budget by object codes:  

    • 100s = Salaries

    • 200s = Benefits

    • 400s = Purchased Services

    • 500s = Supplies

    • 600s = Capital Expenditures

    • 800s = Other Objects

    • 900s = Transfers and Advances

8. Permanent Improvement Budget Summary

  • This is a generalization of the Permanent Improvement Fund (003 fund) and the budget that is in place for it.

9. Spending Plan Monthly

  • This report allows one to see the revenues and expenses by forecast line item per month, as well as the cash flow per month.

10. Monthly Investment Portfolio Statement

  • This report shows the gains/losses for the district's investments that the district receives monthly.
