How does the Fair School Funding Plan Affect MCS?
The Fair School Funding Plan (FSFP) established a base cost, which Ohio Department of Education defines as the following:
“Establishes an input-based funding model informed by professional judgment. The formula establishes a base cost methodology using student/teacher ratios, minimum staffing levels and actual costs. This will result in a unique base cost per pupil for each school and district in the state.”

By examining the base cost, and per pupil spending (tan bar), one may see that this amount exceeds the base cost. To put this in to context, we can examine Ohio Department of Education's 5 and 10 most similar districts to MCS, as well as neighboring school districts. Miamisburg City Schools' per pupil spending is below average within each of these groupings.

The FSFP increased total state aide to MCS, while also increasing restricted state aide (represented below in green).

Due to the changes in legislation related to the FSFP, MCS is expected to see a substantial increase in state aid for the 2024 fiscal year. This number will be reduced for fiscal year 2025 when the increased local share is accounted for.
