Reporting Student Results for Ohio's State Tests to Families

In accordance with Ohio law (Ohio Revised Code 3313.6029), all school districts, community schools, STEM schools, and chartered nonpublic schools are required to report the results of Ohio's State Tests to parents or guardians no later than June 30 each year. Miamisburg City Schools fulfills this requirement by posting test scores to our secure parent portal, Progress Book. Please note that the June 30 reporting deadline applies only to Ohio’s State Tests for grades 3–8 and high school end-of-course exams. It does not include results from the Ohio English Language Proficiency Assessments (OELPS, OELPA, and Alt-OELPA), the Alternate Assessment for Students with the Most Significant Cognitive Disabilities (AASCD), or college readiness exams such as the ACT or SAT.

To meet the legislative requirement, parents are now able to view assessments through ProgressBook Parent Access. To access scores by web browser or mobile app, follow directions linked in Viewing Your Assessment Scores. Scroll down to click on either the “Web Browser” tab or “Mobile App” tab for directions to view your child’s assessment scores.

How do parents interprest their child's test results?

Ohio reports five performance standards: Limited (1), Basic (2), Proficient (3), Accomplished (4) and Advanced (5). The scaled score identifies which level of performance the student achieved. The Accomplished level of performance suggests that a student is on track for college and career readiness. For accountability purposes, “passing” includes the Proficient, Accomplished, and Advanced levels. High School students must be a competency score of 684 or higher on the Algebra I and ELA II tests to meet graduation requirements.
