                                                                         SPRING HAS SPRUNG!
Mound First graders would like to report the blooming of our tulips!  We are participating in an online scientific study with hundreds of other schools internationally.  The study tracks the arrival of spring with an early blooming tulip variety, the Red Emperor tulip.  We planted 77 tulips in front of the Mound Elementary sign last October, and our first tulip bloomed on April 10th.  Our class was the first to report blooming in Ohio this year, with 11 other classes participating in the state.  The students have enjoyed collecting weather data all year, trying to predict the bloom date.  For more information about this study, and other seasonal projects for your classroom, visit: http://www.learner.org/jnorth/tulip/.  Looking at the map, where do you predict the next tulips will bloom?
