Four More Viking Seniors Make College CommitmentsFour more Miamisburg High School senior student-athletes have made commitments to continue their academic and athletic careers on the college level. The most recent signees are:
• Fallon Collins, a four-year letter winner and first team All-GWOC South volleyball selection, who has committed to Blufton University.
• Erika Good, a four-year letter winner and two-time All-GWOC South second team soccer selection, who has committed to Wilmington College.
• Jena King, a two-time first team All-GWOC South and All-Metro selection in softball, who has committed to Tiffin University.
• Alexa Robinson, a two-year letter winner in soccer, who has committed to West Liberty University.
These signings bring to eight the number of Viking seniors who have made college commitments to participate in athletics. The others are Jessica Gross (soccer), Ohio Dominican; Zach Myers (football), Kentucky; Macey Riese (soccer), Youngstown State; and Anna Weisman (swimming), Toledo

Softball Wins Sectional Title
The MHS softball team captured the sectional championship with a 9-5 victory over Edgewood. The victory advances the Vikings to the district tournament semifinals where they will meet Fairborn on Friday (May 18) at 5 p.m. at Centerville High School.
Miamisburg, 21-4 and seeded No. 6 in the tournament, will take a seven-game win streak into Friday’s district contest. The Vikings defeated Fairborn twice early in the season by scores of 4-1 and 5-2. The Skyhawks (21-8), seeded No. 8, have won their last 14 games.
Baseball Plays for Sectional Championship
The Miamisburg High baseball team will seek its first sectional title in a half dozen years when facing Northmont on Thursday (May 17), 7:30 p.m. at the Athletes-in-Action Sports Complex in Xenia. Miamisburg, seeded No. 10, recorded wins of 6-0 over Stebbins and 1-0 over Springboro. The Vikings’ pitching has been the key in their postseason run. Freshman Cole Brandenburg tossed a no-hitter in the victory over Stebbins while senior Zack Ryan limited Springboro to two hits. Northmont enters the game with a 19-9 record.
Track Teams at Districts
The Miamisburg boys and girls track teams will compete in the district championships on Wednesday and Friday at Welcome Stadium.
The boys team is coming off a runner-up finish at last week’s GWOC South championships. Zak Kruer and Tyler Ikerd won individual championships for the Vikings. Kruer topped all competition in the pole vault. The versatile performer also posted a runner-up finish in the 300 meter hurdles, was fourth in the 110 meter hurdles and fifth in the long jump.
Ikerd, who claimed the shot put crown with a heave of 44’6”, also finished fourth in the discus. MHS got runner-up finishes by Michael Melko in the 1600 and 3200 meter races. Melko also finished third in the 800. Quentin Mullen had third place finishes in the 1600 and 3200 with Robert Young third in the 200. The 4x200, 4.800 and 4x400 relays each also took second place. The girls team, which finished fourth, was keyed by Brooklyn Mikesell, who recorded a pair of third place finishes in the 100 and 300 meter hurdle events. Lydia Berry was third in the high jump and Anna Flores took third in the 3200, edging sister Rachael Flores who finished fourth. Jordan Townsley had fourth place finishes in the 1600 and 800 with Iffy Archimalo taking fourth in the discus. The 4x400 relay team posted a runner-up finish.
Tennis Ends Season at Sectionals
The MHS boys tennis team closed out its season at last week’s sectional tournament. Rafael and Carlos Hidalgo each reached the third round of the singles tournament but both were ousted in their attempts to reach the quarterfinals and advance to the district competition.
The Vikings’ 15-4 ledger was one victory shy of the MHS wins record. The senior combo of David Reazin and Darren Mullen earned first team All-GWOC South honors with Rafael and Carlos Hidalgo taking second team honors.
